Atlantic Beach, Kiawah Island SC
“Atlantic Beach”, designed for a family who had outgrown their much-loved beach house, this home was an opportunity to reimagine how they could live, gather, and enjoy their extraordinary coastal setting. The vision extended beyond simply adding space: it was about creating a more thoughtful layout and architecture that made the most of the lot, with the incredible beach views guiding the design. From the moment you walk inside, the atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and unmistakably coastal, a place that invites you to slow down, settle in, and take in the scenery.
A carefully edited palette of colors, subtle patterns, and layered textures brings depth and personality to the interiors without competing with what lies beyond the windows. Each space feels connected and inviting, allowing your eye to move naturally toward the beach. As the plans evolved, the homeowners recognized the remarkable views a third level could offer and decided to move forward with an addition they had not originally intended to include. Now home to their primary suite, this level captures some of the house’s most breathtaking views.
Equally important was ensuring that the home could be enjoyed without hesitation. Fabrics, furnishings, and finishes were selected with durability and everyday livability in mind, accounting for coastal conditions, children, dogs, and a house full of guests. The result is a home that balances beauty with practicality: thoughtfully layered, comfortable, and ready for the everyday moments and lively gatherings that make a family beach house so special.
